I decided we should go in search of "Cedar Lake" which the natives said lay atop Chuckanut Mountain. So we drove to a dark and damp grove cum small parking lot at the base of the mountain and began our ascent. The trail is quite steep -- about 35º-40º... This wasn't steep enough for Nicky. He soon took to chasing down ravines and then showing off how fast he could rocket up again. He was inexhaustible... Not me. We eventually got to the top, and then stumbled around descending and ascending through a bunch of cross looping trails in search of this elusive lake which we never found.
On the way down, I ran into a budding flower
